Athlete Expectations
Practice/Training:
- Show up on time (at least 5-10 minutes early), have your shoes on and be ready to go by 3:10
- Have a positive attitude
- Proper practice attire (shorts, sweatpants, short or long sleeve shirt, wrestling shoes)
- Set goals for what you are trying to accomplish with each practice/workout
- Missing practices or being late without notification to coaches will not be tolerated
- Practice is for learning/mastering skills and conditioning
- NO CELL PHONE USE DURING PRACTICES
- Being late or missing practice will not be tolerated
Hygiene:
- Wrestlers should shower immediately after practice or as soon as they get home.
- Fingernails must remain trimmed and short
- Workout clothing should be washed after each practice.
- Singlet/Warm up should be washed after each competition
Wrestle Offs:
- Will be conducted early in the season for prospective weight class spots (best of 3 series) and once again around mid season (at coaches discretion)
- There will be no coaching during challenge matches
- Wrestlers must be within 3 lbs. of the weight they want to wrestle
- Only the team and staff are permitted in the room during wrestle offs
- You will have to EARN a wrestle off with the varsity wrestler, you are not guaranteed it, and beat the starter twice. The starter will only need to win one match to keep the spot.
- The coaches will have the final say on who wrestles and have the ability to shift people around based on what they feel is best for the team
Competitions:
- Every wrestler will be required to wear a collared shirt, tie (optional), dress pants, dress shoes. NO JEANS, SNEAKERS, HATS or wrestler will not be permitted on the bus.
- You are expected to compete and represent CYSD honorably, not doing so will result in a suspension.
- You will only wear Central York attire.
- You will remain at events and return on the bus unless granted approval in advance.
- Cell Phones should NOT be in use at any dual meets.
- Cell Phones may be used at tournaments, but should not distract from supporting your teammates.
- MISSING WEIGHT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and doing so will result in a 1-2 competition suspension.
Nutrition:
- To compete at your maximum level, a wrestler must be able to maintain and manage weight properly.
- The Central York Coaching Staff will meet with any wrestlers that need guidance with their weight and set up a nutrition/workout plan.
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
- Be aware of what you are putting into your body the day of competition
Uniforms:
- Each member of the team will be provided a uniform which is their responsibility. They will be financially responsible for any uniform or part of, not returned at the end of the season.
Academics:
1. We will be getting grade reports from teachers and monitoring grades throughout the season
- We will follow the district eligibility guidelines and in order to travel/compete you must meet them.
- Show up, complete 100% of homework, prepare properly for tests, seek additional help if needed.
