Athlete Expectations

Practice/Training:

  1. Show up on time (at least 5-10 minutes early), have your shoes on and be ready to go by 3:10
  2. Have a positive attitude
  3. Proper practice attire (shorts, sweatpants, short or long sleeve shirt, wrestling shoes)
  4. Set goals for what you are trying to accomplish with each practice/workout
  5. Missing practices or being late without notification to coaches will not be tolerated
  6. Practice is for learning/mastering skills and conditioning
  7. NO CELL PHONE USE DURING PRACTICES
  8. Being late or missing practice will not be tolerated

Hygiene:

  1. Wrestlers should shower immediately after practice or as soon as they get home.
  2. Fingernails must remain trimmed and short
  3. Workout clothing should be washed after each practice.
  4. Singlet/Warm up should be washed after each competition

Wrestle Offs:

  1. Will be conducted early in the season for prospective weight class spots (best of 3 series) and once again around mid season (at coaches discretion)
  2. There will be no coaching during challenge matches
  3. Wrestlers must be within 3 lbs. of the weight they want to wrestle
  4. Only the team and staff are permitted in the room during wrestle offs
  5. You will have to EARN a wrestle off with the varsity wrestler, you are not guaranteed it, and beat the starter twice. The starter will only need to win one match to keep the spot.
  6. The coaches will have the final say on who wrestles and have the ability to shift people around based on what they feel is best for the team

Competitions:

  1. Every wrestler will be required to wear a collared shirt, tie (optional), dress pants, dress shoes. NO JEANS, SNEAKERS, HATS or wrestler will not be permitted on the bus.
  2. You are expected to compete and represent CYSD honorably, not doing so will result in a suspension.
  3. You will only wear Central York attire.
  4. You will remain at events and return on the bus unless granted approval in advance.
  5. Cell Phones should NOT be in use at any dual meets.
  6. Cell Phones may be used at tournaments, but should not distract from supporting your teammates.
  7. MISSING WEIGHT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and doing so will result in a 1-2 competition suspension.

Nutrition:

  1. To compete at your maximum level, a wrestler must be able to maintain and manage weight properly.
  2. The Central York Coaching Staff will meet with any wrestlers that need guidance with their weight and set up a nutrition/workout plan.
  3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
  4. Be aware of what you are putting into your body the day of competition

Uniforms:

  1. Each member of the team will be provided a uniform which is their responsibility.  They will be financially responsible for any uniform or part of, not returned at the end of the season.

Academics:

1.   We will be getting grade reports from teachers and monitoring grades throughout the season

  1. We will follow the district eligibility guidelines and in order to travel/compete you must meet them.
  2. Show up, complete 100% of homework, prepare properly for tests, seek additional help if needed.
